WOW DILLON - " Battle Of The Boards" 3/10

9:30 Board: Improbability is something that can be connected to love. Improbability means that something is less likely to happen but the odds are never zero, like how it can relate to finding someone you connect to on a personal level. However with existentialism, you don’t know what to expect for everyone you meet, others may have life goals that go along with your goals, others may not. But even with those kinds of facts in mind it doesn’t deter people from having a long lasting relationship with one another. At the end of the day, everyone is gonna have different views on how they view themselves or the positions they see other people in, it won’t stop them from making a connection with those that aren’t. In the case of the concept of fate, improbable chances always tend to have a chance to always happen no matter the circumstances. There are millions of people in the world going through all their daily lives and routines, fate is a predetermined thing that means two different people of completely different interests or goals will eventually meet and their lives will be changed from that one day going forward. So when it comes to improbable events in the concept of fate, that improbable chance will almost always become a hundred percent probability. On page 3 Noah says, “I listen as they begin to whisper among themselves as I pass. “There he goes again,” I hear, “I hope it turns out well.” But they say nothing directly to me about it. (Page 3)”. The nurses talk as if they seem to feel sorry for Noah putting himself through the trouble of trying to help his wife remember parts of their relationship. This probably means that Noah has been visiting the hospital for ages trying to get his wife to remember him and all the things they have been through. It may seem like an improbable chance for his wife to remember him but Noah’s love and determination to keep on trying is what makes the feeling of love such a powerful feeling.

12:30 Board: People view coincidences with two different angles, some may find them as something that was meant to happen or some will brush off these phenomenons off as just ordinary things that happen throughout the day. When it comes to existentialism, coincidences are usually brushed off by people who don’t believe in something that was meant to happen that causes people to meet each other, just a simple small event that has no bigger meaning to the day. People always tend to be so occupied with their own thoughts that they pay no mind to all of the weird coincidences that can happen throughout the day which could have been the main catalyst for many people around the world meeting in the first place. When it comes to coincidences in fate, it’s more so seen as something that was meant to happen in someone's life. Like a friend inviting a friend of theirs over that you had no prior knowledge of, or meeting someone at a party or event. People don’t seem to believe in coincidences in fate, everything happens for a reason in their beliefs and if people continue to embrace that kind of mentality it could lead to many more people building the courage to bond over a crazy event that happened or even have a light hearted moment following it. On page 12, one of Noah’s friends mentions that Allie was spending the summer in their area, “Fin told him she was spending the summer in New Bern with her family because her father worked for R. J. Reynolds, and though he only nodded, the way he was looking at him made his silence seem okay. (Page 12)”. Whether it be coincidence or just fate, it’s almost like Noah and Allie were destined to meet one another and spend the rest of their lives together.
