_____________________________________________________________________________________________
Total 2 Paragraphs - In Your Notebook

In addition, TWO  MAJOR themes  that you will be asked to explore is the theme Gender  Inequality as it relates to the play.  AND THE THEME OF RELENTLESS LOVE.

Gender Inequality : Look for examples in the play where it is clear that Sophoclean Society was in fact a male dominated society. Identify 2 examples and provide a concrete evidence including a quote to support your examples. Think about the characters' behavior and speech.

Use In-Text Citation .
Character and Line (Creon, 335-249). OR (Sophocles 1129). (Author pg.)

Relentless Love : I WOULD ALSO HAVE YOU ADD LOVE as a THEME- CAN YOU THINK OF AN EXAMPLE IN THE PLAY WHERE THE POWER of LOVE  ( familial love) HAS AN IMPACT THAT IS BEYOND LOGICAL? Think of Love and Passion, Love and Loyalty, Love and Dedication.  DESCRIBE THIS CONCEPT of LOVE and PROVIDE AN EXAMPLE OF HOW THIS LOVE HAS CREATED A (internal OR external ) Conflict ?

PART III.  Copy the Following Conflicts in YOUR Notebook

The 7 Types of Conflict in Literature are:
Man v. Man
Man v. Nature
Man v. Society
Man v. Fate
Man v. Self
Man v. Supernatural
Man v. Machine

Identify two types of conflicts seen so far in the play and describe the conflict in one paragraph. Provide a concrete example, quote and in -text citation to support your response. You can choose character and line numbers (Creon, 230-233). OR.... You can choose author and page (Sophocles 1256).

Be sure to use In- Text Citation. It is imperative.

PART IV:

Absolutism is a concept that can best be described as : Unwavering ( GREAT WORK TODAY ALYSSA)  Bias, Unequivocal. It is not synonymous with democracy, flexibility or bi partisanship. In fact, absolutism resides on absolute principles and rule. Totalitarianism can be considered a government of absolute principles and beliefs.

In Your notebook Answer Is Creon considered a dictator?
Discuss the concept of absolutism, totalitarianism and dictatorship as it relates to the play. Draw Parallels between Creon and a  more Modern Leader (must be within the last 100 years). Does Creon share similar characteristics with another leader ? Describe how the two are the same? What similarities do they share? How are they different? (If you are a history buff.. you  can choose a leader from the past. Be prepared to share it with the class. know your stuff! )

Machiavelli said "Tis Better to be Feared than Loved." Is this a valid statement?
Do you think think Creon is Machiavellian in nature?  FEEL FREE TO AGREE OR DISAGREE.. PROVIDE Concrete examples!

In addition, think about what the personality traits are of a good leader?
Do a bit of research on your own and share your best 3 qualities  in class! Provide the source as well.
