In Your Notebook- Prepare for a mini -lecture and FISHBOWL
You will be writing Pub 2 and Paper 1 shortly! Be sure to prepare! THese writing assignments promote your success as a scholar!
1. If illusion means " to create an alternate version of something" and illusions stem from wants and desires, then , what do you suppose Blanche desires? provide concrete examples to support your ideas.
2. In Scene 6, Blanche tells her story to Mitch and blames herself for many things. What happens to people when they experience trauma? What type of suffering does this entail for Blanche?
3. Choose one theme from my introductory lecture and find two examples within the selected scenes. You have the option to discuss motif.
4. A closer look at Darwinism and "survival of the fittest". Charles Darwin studied the theory of evolution as a natural philosopher at Cambridge during the 19th century. The idea behind "survival of the fittest" is part of what is called natural selection. However, as time went on and ideas regarding Social Darwinism began to erupt and evolve many people discuss the concept of "survival of the fittest" in simple terms ... Only the strong (fit) survive.
Discuss the play as it can or cannot be seen as somewhat Darwinian in nature. Please provide at least 2 concrete examples to support your ideas.
