Another Note

Greek Burial Rites- In the time of Sophocles

Death is a gateway to the afterlife. A funeral was an essential passage and part of an eternal cycle of life.  According to Zues (The God of Gods) bodies (such as Polyneices') left unburied were left to roam aimlessly in the afterworld. Essentially, this means their souls will never rest.  The Greeks (and many other various cultures including our present culture) believed that leaving a body unburied communicates tremendous insolence and a damned soul.

It can be considered the ultimate curse and disgrace.

Food for thought.

We will have our first fishbowl after I complete the last portion of the Introduction tomorrow.

Have a Good Night!
